Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 5, 2026
YouSound, Inc. ("YouSound") knows that you care about how your Personal Data is used and shared, and we take your privacy seriously. Please read the following to learn more about our privacy policy.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and safeguard your Personal Data when you access the www.yousound.com website and domain name, mobile applications, and any other linked pages, features, content, or application services offered from time to time by YouSound in connection therewith (collectively, the "Service"), or otherwise interact with us. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that YouSound does not own or control.
"Personal Data" means any data related to an identified or identifiable individual. By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy.
YouSound acts as Data Controller for user account data and other Personal Data collected through the Service. Where we use subprocessors (e.g. cloud infrastructure, payment processors, analytics, identity verification, AI providers), we have Data Processing Agreements in place with such subprocessors as required by applicable data protection law.
What Personal Data Does YouSound Collect?
When you create an account and use the Service, we collect and process platform activity needed to operate listening and playback, royalties and payouts, discovery and recommendations, community connections, security and abuse prevention, and YouSound Intelligence features. The categories below describe what we collect and why in plain language. Additional legal detail follows.
What YouSound collects and why
Account and profile: Information you provide to create, secure, and personalize your account, such as your email, username, profile information, account type, age eligibility information, language, and preferences.
Listening and music activity: What you listen to, when you listen, how you interact with music, and related activity such as saves, playlists, skips, replays, and listening sources. We use this to operate playback, royalties, discovery, recommendations, audience insights, and other music features.
Community activity: Follows, rooms, memberships, reactions, messages, collaborations, blocks, reports, and other interactions that allow YouSound's social and community features to work.
Search and app activity: Searches and interactions with YouSound that help us operate, improve, secure, and understand use of the service.
Approximate location: We may derive general location such as city, region, country, or timezone from your internet connection. YouSound does not require precise GPS location for these features.
Content you provide: Music, artwork, messages, attachments, profile content, feedback, and other material you choose to upload or share through YouSound.
Purchases, subscriptions and artist payments: Information needed to manage subscriptions, purchases, earnings, collaborator splits, verification, and payouts. Payment and identity providers may process additional information directly when necessary.
Orbit and Intelligence activity: Your conversations with Orbit, use of Intelligence features, and related information necessary to provide and improve those features.
Devices, security and diagnostics: Information necessary to keep accounts secure, deliver notifications, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and operate YouSound reliably.
What AI can receive
When you use an AI-powered feature, YouSound may send our AI service provider:
- Your request or question
- Recent conversation context when needed to understand follow-up questions
- Relevant YouSound information needed to process your request
This does not give our AI provider unrestricted access to YouSound's database. Certain authentication, payment, identity-verification, and other protected information is not made available through Orbit.
YouSound does not train a YouSound generative model on your music or private conversations.
Current AI service providers and privacy practices: Our AI service providers (for example Anthropic) and related privacy practices may change; current providers and practices are described in this Policy and may be updated here. Human review may occur for safety, abuse, or quality investigation. Under our provider agreements we do not permit prompt or response content from YouSound Intelligence features to be used to train foundation models where prohibited.
Additional collection details
Phone numbers (Messages): If you use YouSound Messages call features, we may collect and store a phone number you provide and related contact preferences (for example, "Allow Calls" or "only people I follow can call").
Payment and payout processors: Payment card and billing details are collected and processed by our payment processors (e.g. Stripe, Recurly). We do not store full credit card numbers. We may receive transaction metadata (date, amount, status) and billing address where provided. For one-time digital product purchases, a card is collected to complete that purchase; saving it for later product buys is optional and, if you do not opt in, we instruct Stripe to detach it after the purchase. For paid room memberships, a card is stored so we can charge later periods until you cancel. For creator payouts we may process Stripe Global Payouts recipient identifiers and payout status (streaming cash-out) and Stripe Connect identifiers (Messages selling). Those rails are separate.
Identity verification: For artist verification and payouts, identity verification data (e.g. government-issued ID, name, date of birth — which may be sensitive personal information under CCPA/CPRA) is collected and stored by our identity verification providers (primarily Stripe Identity; payout rails may include Stripe Global Payouts or Stripe Connect for selling) and processed under their privacy policies. YouSound remains Data Controller for verification purposes; these providers act as processors on our instructions where applicable.
Emails and messages: Transactional and support emails, and user-to-user messages. Message and live audio content may be scanned using automated tools for abuse prevention and copyright enforcement.
In addition, we may automatically collect:
Website and app activity: Application logs, IP address, browser or device information, crash data, and usage metrics. Activity data is sometimes associated with an IP address or other Personal Data. Third parties may also collect information about your activity over time and across sites or apps.
Cookies and similar technologies: Cookies and similar technologies help us recognize your browser or device, keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure traffic, and secure the Service. Some cookies are essential; others are analytical or functional. Cookies and similar technologies may collect identifiers and usage data that can constitute Personal Data or be combined with Personal Data. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling certain cookies may limit features. We use Google Analytics; learn more at Google's partner policy and opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
We may use software tools such as JavaScript to collect page interaction information such as clicks, response times, errors, and length of visits to certain pages.

How Will YouSound Share the Personal Data It Receives?
Personal Data about our customers is an integral part of our business. We neither rent nor sell your Personal Data for money. We share your Personal Data only as described below. In certain situations, these businesses sell items to you through YouSound's Service. In other situations, YouSound provides services, or sells products jointly with affiliated businesses. You can easily recognize when an affiliated business is associated with your transaction, and we will share your Personal Data that is related to such transactions with that affiliated business.
Service providers / agents: We employ other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf (email delivery, analytics, payments, identity verification, AI providers used only to interpret Orbit natural-language prompts such as Anthropic, customer support, cloud infrastructure). Unless we tell you differently, they may use Personal Data only as needed to assist us.
Verified creators and other users: When you use certain features, limited profile or customer information may be visible to other users or creators as needed for the feature (for example, messaging, room membership, or purchase fulfillment). Creators are not authorized to sell or rent that information for unrelated marketing.

Compliance with the Law, Protection of YouSound and Others: We may access, preserve, and disclose collected information if we believe doing so is required or appropriate to: comply with law enforcement requests and legal process, such as a court order or subpoena; enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of YouSound, our employees, our users, or others.

We collect the categories of Personal Data described above (identifiers; commercial information; internet/electronic activity; audio content you upload or stream; geolocation approximates from IP; professional information for creators; sensitive Personal Data such as government ID for verification, and account login credentials). We use them for the purposes described in this Policy.
Notice at collection: At or before collection, this Policy and in-product notices describe the categories collected and purposes. We do not sell Personal Data for money. We may "share" Personal Data for cross-context behavioral advertising via advertising or analytics cookies/partners; you may opt out as described below and on our Privacy Choices page.
Your California rights: Subject to verification and exceptions, you may request to know/access, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing of Personal Data, and limit use of sensitive Personal Data to what is necessary to provide the Service. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Submit requests to support@yousound.com or use in-app account/settings tools where available. You may use an authorized agent as permitted by law. If we detect a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we will treat it as an opt-out of sale/sharing where required.
Under California's "Shine the Light" law, California residents may request certain information about sharing with other businesses for their own direct marketing. Contact support@yousound.com.
